The story of the OZTENT all started in the mid 1980's when Joe Viglione (Oztent inventor) went camping with his wife. He borrowed a tent from a friend and on the first night he almost had a divorce. He didn't know it at the time but one pole was missing from the package. It wasn't the best way to start a holiday and in frustration he yelled.............
When he got back from his holiday, cut short by his experience with the tent, he went about trying to find a tent that would be easy to setup and pack away but also a tent that had nothing to lose or go missing. Well he couldn't find a tent on the market with the features he wanted. After thinking about all the tents he had investigated Joe thought he would design his own. He was sure that there were other people who hated the tents currently on the market and felt sure that if he designed a tent he wanted, many others would buy it also. None of his designs really worked and in frustration he stopped thinking about it. One night he had a dream about a tent design that could be erected in 30 seconds. Many prototypes were made. The design really worked and Joe patented the tent worldwide. Finally the Oztent was released in 1993 and in that same year the Oztent was awarded ....
